Serengeti derived from native Masai tribe word Siringet which mean that “Endless plain”. Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s oldest, largest and most popular national park, the Serengeti Plain is famed for its great wildebeests annual migration which is among the largest mammal migration in the world. More than 2 million of wildebeests move in large caravans on open plains and as more than 200,000 zebra and 300,000 Thomson’s gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek searching for fresh grazing/pastures and water. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers arguably the most scintillating game-viewing in Africa: great herds of buffalo, smaller groups of elephant and giraffe, and thousands upon thousands of eland, topi, kongoni, impala and Grant’s gazelle.
